After three month stay in Kushiro City, I moved to Sapporo which is the most popular city in Japan. Old people might know the name because The Winter Olympic Games were held here in 1972. As I was a small child then, I only remember that some people were jumping in the television. After 36 years since then, I visited the place where they were jumping and fortunately I could watch two high school students were practicing jumping with summer skies. They were skiing down the steep slope, jumping, landing and coming up on a lift again and again. Like other spectators, I was surprised at the slope's steepness at first, but another feeling gradually came up in my mind. Sure, they looked like jumping, but I found that they were not flying at so many hight from the slope. They were only falling down along the slope. Their hight from the slope was about 10 meters above the slope at most. By thinking like that, I felt as if I could jump like them. Of course I know that is an illusion, but it is true that looking closely at ski jump and watching it in the television are totally different.
