A very energetic book

I'm now reading this "CONVERSATIONS WITH MILLIONAIRES" by Mike Litman. I have never read such an energetic book. It is made of nine scripts of radio interviews with U.S. millionaires including Jim Rohn and Robert Allen. They are all professionals of leading people to success. Just by reading the powerful and encouraging words I feel like getting success. But as they say, one of the most important things for success is making a start before everything. I think I have made too many steps with no progress. I have to restart my work right now. My lost energy seems to come back again by reading this book.

Amazon magic

Last midnight, I bought a book at Amazon which is the most famous bookstore in the Internet. To my surprise, the book I ordered arrived at me less than 18 hours. What a convenient, speedy, and great service! I love Amazon because not only it is convenient and speedy but also it is kind to users. The system is designed so nice that I can enjoy purchasing books at Amazon referring the comments of other readers, choose another book which is related to what I have selected, and trace where the book I ordered is. Furthermore, the cost for sending books is free! The only thing Amazon cannot afford to the users is that I cannot try and read the books before purchasing them just like in a real bookstore. Anyways, Amazon is really a great bookstore which even seems to be a magic for me and I cannot live without it. I hear that Amazon is in the red. I think it natural because the fee is too cheap for the service. I hope this company lasts forever.

"It Works"

Today I read a very tiny English book. It is so tiny and thin that even I could read it just in a half hour. It is the book about how to get what you want. The answer to the question is very simple and concise. It says that if you know what you want you can have it. In order to practice this idea, this book offers a very simple rule, that is to write down on paper the list of what you want in the order of the priority, and read the list three times every day. You can always maintain the list by deleting one item, adding new one, or re-ordering it. By doing so, you can also think about what you want until you get it. Some people might think this idea is too simple and too easy, but I think it is true from my experiences. This world is full of happy things which we often over look and if we can recognize and capture just a few of them, we become happy. The author uses the metaphor of the radio tuning. Happiness is like a radio broadcasting which is flowing everywhere around us, and if we had a small radio and knew how to operate it, we can enjoy it. I think this is a very encouraging, tiny book.

PHP

I'm now coding my new system using PHP which is one of the most popular computer languages for making web systems. I've been using it for about two months. Different from natural languages like English or Japanese, computer languages are easy to master because they have little exceptetions and because they are extremely logical. In order to learn PHP, I've been using this book and the online documents in the official site of PHP. These documents are written mainly in Englihs but they are so well designed that I can easily understand and use them. I found that PHP is by far more powerful language than I had been thinking, and I feel I can make any systems I want. I'm happy because I can use such a great software and documents for free.

Chapters

I often go to bookstores for pleasure and for my improvement in English. Chapters in Vancouver Downtown is one of my most favorite booksotres because it is very spacious. It is so comfortable with some sofas that I sometimes stay there more than three hours reading some books and magazines. I think the prices of books are expensive in Canada. I don't know the exact reason for that, but most books are written in the U.S. and two prices printed on them; one in US dollars and the other in Canadian dollars. If the price is US$50, the other price is CAN$75! So I pick up several books which seem to be interesting, go to sit on the sofa with them, and enjoy reading them for free. I think this place is much better than the public library because there are many brandnew books and magazines here. And furthermore, there is Starbucks inside the every store of Chapters. It's amazing!

Lorelei in the end of the war

As I couldn't go out because of backpain, I read a long Japanese novel "Lorelei in the end of the war". It is a story about a submarine which rustled in the end of World War II. Of course it is a fiction, but it seems real because the fictional parts are well inserted in the historical events such as U-boats, kamikaze submarines, and atomic bombs in Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Especially the description about submarines was very interesting to me. I found for the first time that submarines do not shudder in the sea no matter how rough or stormy on the sea. And the navigation of submarines is by far harder than that of ships on the sea because they can see nothing in the deep sea and they can only use sound for their three dimensional navigation. If there were a sailing boat which can submerge into the sea when it is rough, I would be free from seasickness. If you can read Japanese, I recommend you to read this book.
