This strange shaped bridge is located near my hotel. It is suspended by four wires from a thick, single arched tube. It looks unique and modern, but I doubt that it is strong. What would happen if earthquake shook it at right angles to the tube? I don't think there is any structure to hold whole of the bridge. Plus, the bridge is for pedestrians only. They have to walk up and down on this bridge only to cross the car road beneath while there is a crosswalk. As far as I saw, there were no pedestrians walking on the bridge. What a waste! We often come across wasteful buildings like this bridge in this city. I hear that most of them were built with the money from Japanese government. The ratio of the expenses out of the National Treasury comes to more than 60 percent in Okinawa prefecture. There are so many gorgeous buildings here and there while the income level of this prefecture has always been the lowest in Japan. It is the result of Japan's weird policy to this island. Sure, there exists a mind of compensation about the historical and unsolved problems, but I think Okinawa has long been and is still exploited by someone evil. I was surprised to know that 20 percent of the people on this island still agree with the independence movement from Japan.
