I visited the forest of Stanley Park by bike this afternoon. The roads in the forest were partially open and I could enjoy cycling out there again. Almost a half year has past since the last winter storm and most of the fallen trees were still there. They were only cleared off the road. I was surprised that the center part of the forest had been widely damaged as well as the rim part. I can't even imagine what it was like in the forest just in the storm night. Anyway, the forest became brighter because of the fallen trees and young, short trees seemed to be getting sunshine more than before. This is nothing but a natural selection. Though we recognize the storm as a terrible disaster, it might not be such a big problem for the forest itself. It might be no more a problem in the long time span than we sometimes trim our hair at a hair salon.
