My pleasant sleep in the Sunday morning was disturbed by a noise from outside; a loud rock music and cheers arising every five seconds. The source of the noise was Vancouver Marathon which is one of the annual events in Vancouver and unfortunately, my apartment is located on the course. To tell the truth, I don't like a marathon, both running myself and watching it. I even think it's a waste of time and energy. At least, it is not worth closing the traffic and disturbing my pleasant sleep. However, against my will, so-called city marathons are getting popular year by year all around the world including Tokyo. I think there are mainly two reasons for this prosperity. One reason is that a marathon has a clean, healthy and ecological image although a lot of plastic water bottles are wasted. The other reason is that they can easily make money only by closing the traffic for a while and gathering a few popular runners. You might think I am too sarcastic, but my grudge to be disturbed my sleep is so deep.
