It was after 9:00 pm when I arrived at San Francisco after a long drive. I chose the southbound root of R101 which went through Golden Gate Bridge. My hope to be welcome by the famous large bridge was ruined by the heavy night rain. I couldn't even distinguish the red color of the bridge when I was just driving on there as well as the whole shape from a distance. Plus, I didn't know only the southbound direction was tolled. It was the worst case scenario of my first visiting to San Francisco. Though I was not interested in sight seeing of the city, I decided to stay around the city for two nights. I have to admit that I was tired of driving. With this thing and that, I visited the bridge in the next morning again. It was standing there beautifully. The suspension shape was similar to Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver though it was red and more than twice as long. According to my research on the Internet, they were both built 70 years ago, just before the World War II took place. It's really great that such old bridges are still working and they have become the symbols of the cities. I'm not sure about the name of the designers, who by the way are said to be the same person, but they must be happy to have left such great objects.
