The International Peace Arch stands astride the boundary between the United States and Canada. One foot is anchored in American soil and the other is in Canada. It is the symbol of the peaceful relationship between the both countries and some people are playing or taking pictures in the park around the monument. Different from the most buffer zones all over the world, we can go across the border and come back free in the park, but it is not that we can go to another county with no check. The right lane of cars are waiting for the custom check of the U.S. and the left side cars are coming into Canada. We are not allowed to go back and if we canceled to go to the U.S. and made a U-turn here, we would have to take the custom check of Canada. We can come into this are just by driving along Route 99 towards south, but if we came here without our passport, it would be a big problem because we can't go to the U.S. nor come back to Canada. I wish this border would be removed someday in the future.
