Mee Pok is my recent favorite menu item. I have it almost every week in a Singaporean or Malaysian restaurant on Main Street. It is kind of a thin and yellow noodle tossed in special sauce. It looks very healthy as served with lots of vegetables, minced meat and sliced fish ball. The sauce is tasty with vinegar, chili and soy sauce. Every thing is contained in this menu item both in tastes and nutrition. I think this combination of Mee Pok and spring rolls is perfect. Noodle dishes are popular in Japan too, but we usually eat them in the style of noodle in soup. I know only one Japanese noodle menu item in which noodle is served tossed in a sauce. It is called "Hiyashi Chuka" which is a transformation of Ramen. I prefer this type of noodle dish because dry noodle is seasoned and tastes better. It's really fun to taste many kinds of dishes in various countries. Fortunately, we can do it quite easily in Vancouver because there are lots of ethnic communities around this city and we can find reasonable ethnic restaurants for the residents out there. I think they are not always inferior to high-grade restaurants.
