It was a beautiful night with the waxing moon over the sea. My family name implies the full moon in Japanese, but I prefer a kind of chipped moon in the waxing, waning or crescent phases. The full moon looks flat and a little bit boring while these chipped phases are very interesting because we can see the border between the lit surface and the un-lit surface more clearly. Though my digital camera does not have an enough zooming but the zig-zag border can be seen on the surface with difficulty. As you know, the moon always moves changing its shape and it becomes more familiar when you know that there is the sun in the direction of the bright side of the moon. My favorite moon is a crescent located just over the horizon because it looks biggest, nearest and most clear. It is the perfect moon for me. When can I see it next?
