Book-off is a Japanese popular chain of secondhand bookstores. As I heard that one of them was open in Downtown, I visited it for the first time. The store located at the center of Downtown, was larger than I had expected with a lot of second-hand books, comics, and CDs. When I looked at the price tags of some items, I was disappointed because they were more expensive than the original price. I don't feel like purchasing any second-hand items at higher price than the original. I was thinking about getting out of the store after walking through it, when I found a $2 shelf. All the books on the shelf were sold at $2! I was happy to know that and began treasure hunting. I was happier because I found some more $2 shelves in the store. I bought one Japanese paperback at $2 plus tax and got out of the store with satisfaction. I am happy to get a good place.
I was reading a back blog about Satsuma Mandarin Oranges and wanted to clarify something. They are called that because they come from Satsuma, Oklahoma in the U.S.
We have Book-Off here in California too. Still everything is quite expensive. *sigh*

Thanks for your comment to my blog. I didn't know that "Satsuma" came from the U.S. city name. Satsuma orange is the specialty of Satsuma in Alabama, right?

I thought "satsuma oranges" originated from Japan as some websites describe them as "Japanese satsuma oranges" (cf: http://www.epicurious.com/cooking/how_to/food_dictionary/entry?id=3395 ) but now I am not sure...

Yep, the "Satsuma" came from Japan. They were named Satsuma here in the U.S. because some dignitary went to Alabama from Satsuma, Japan and brought mikan, so they named the city in Alabama, Satsuma and the mikan was tagged with Satsuma... does that make sense? Nothing makes sense here in the states....
