It was a super busy day today. I woke up before seven o'clock and collected aviation weather information from the Internet to do a cross country flight. As it was my first cross country, I needed quite a long time to make a flight plan which includes drawing lines on the chart, measuring the true heading and correcting it for the effect from wind and variation. Variation means the difference between true heading and magnetic heading, which is very large in Canada. I had to list up the radio frequency en route too because I was supposed to fly between four airports in an hour. The weather was good, but my flight was not; I missed a lot of radio communication, and had a difficulty to calculate the ground speed and revise the ETA. (Estimated Time for Arrival) It seems now almost acrobatic for me to use a flight computer while flying straight and level. Anyway, one of the airport named Chilliwack was very pretty and cozy. It was like a drive-in for airplanes. I had lunch at the cafe in the airport with my flight instructor. Although the airport is famous for its pie, I didn't try it. I'm thinking about trying a piece of pie next time I flew there again.
