As it's very noisy in the cockpit, pilots use a special headset to communicate with the co-pilot, control towers, and other planes. I got this headset at Aviation World in Richmond. It cost $290 but it's cheaper than renting from school every time I take lessons. It is a closure type headset and wearing it I cannot hear almost anything. It has two plugs, one is for output and the other for input. As it has a microphone, if I had an adapter I could use it for IP phone or Skype. But it is rather heavy and I won't use it in such a way.
