The word "hot spot" means a public place where a wireless network can be used. When I came back to Japan I was surprised to see a lot of hot spots in Tokyo. If you turn on a notebook PC with a wireless network in a cafe or a restaurant, you can possiblely connect to the hot spots and use the Internet. Most hot spots are pay spots and require the security password, but there aren't many free spots. Although the free hot spots have security problems, we can avoid them by using an adequate firewall system. I have found some comfortable hot spots in Tokyo. It is as if I had some offices here and there in Tokyo. It's really comfortable and I can do my work everywhere. Indeed I'm writing and uploading this blog in one of my secret cafes. I hope a lot of hot spots are appearing in Vancouver.
