The Gulf Islands are located southeast of Vancouver island and consist of hundreds of small islands. It is always calm inside the Gulf Islands even if, outside of it, the Strait of Georgia, is rough. There are four main passages in the Gulf Islands, and when we enter it we have to choose one of them. This time I chose Porlier passage because it is nearest to Vancouver and is the easiest to pass through. We have to be careful about slack time when we go through passages. In passages, except at slack time, water runs like a river and it is very dangerous to pass through running water. As passages are narrow and shallow, it is hard to proceed against the water flow. And it is more dangerous to run with the current because it gets too fast and uncontrollable. Anyway I safely passed through the Porlier Passage and entered the Gulf Islands.
