Pirate VCD

I got this video CD at a chinese shop in Richmond. It is a pirate edition of Japanese TV program. If you purchase the original edition in Japan, you have to pay ten times as much. They probably recorded the TV program in Japan, added chinese subtitles, made copies somewhere, and are selling them in Richmond. I found an evidence against that; they include some captions of a weather warning in Japan. This is of course an illeagal action, but I can't criticize them because I enjoy watching it. It is true that it helps us Japanese who are living abroad and want to see Japanese TV programs. Anyway Chinese are happy people because they can enjoy any TV programs and movies with Chinese subtitles at a very low price of pirated editions. And they are a little bit cheeky because this pirate video CD has a warning which says 'For private home use only. Any unauthorised copying, hiring, lending or public performance of this program is prohibited by law!'

About 10 years ago, I was living almost the same as her. As I didn't need make-up(because I am a boy) and clean-up(because I don't mind a filthy room) I could spare a little bit more time to sleep, but basicaly I was living in such a way. I think most Japanese workers are leading this kind of life and they have to continue it for thirty years. I couldn't keep up with this life style and dropped out. Now I am a pu-taro(jobless wanderer), and I have no idea what I am doing even in this winter, but I can sleep as much as I want. Alarm clocks never disturb my happy sleep. That's enough for me.

I wake up 5:00 in a.m. I hate it but I have to wake up to get office on time. So, I hit quick shower and let water run all over myself, turn the laundry machine on, open windows, get dressed&quick make-up on, prepare breakfast (sandwitch, non-fat milk and fresh fruit. I had plums this morning.), water plants, check emails and weather forecast while having breakfast, wash dishes, do quick cleaning, get headgears (headphone and MP3 player) and leave home. Take a train at 7:00, get Shibuya around 8:45. Stop by Starbucks for coffee, get in the office 8:55. I usually get off the work around 18:00. Take a train to go back to home, stop by supermarket or flourist sometimes. But normally I get home around 20:00.

What is he doing?

Yesterday morning, I witnessed this scene from my balcony. This boat went aground on Sunset Beach just in front of the base of Vancouver Coast Guard. Unfortunately the tide was just getting low and he had to wait more than six hours until the tide came back up to the level high enough to escape. It was fine, Canada Day and the beach was full of people walking, jogging, cycling and rollerblading. I don't know how many people saw this shameful situation. Or, did he intentionally ground his ship in order to wash the bottom of it? If so, he was wise and saved more than $200 necessary to lift up a boat.

Moon illusion

'Why does the moon look larger when it is near the horizon?' This question is called 'moon illusion', and a lot of people tried to answer it including Aristoteles. There are some answers such as because the light of the moon is bended when it comes through the atmosphere of the earth, or because the moon is highly contrasted against some objects on the land. The only one answer is not found yet, but the most predominant theory is because of our optical illusion. Anyway, it is full moon today. My familiy name means full moon in Japanese, and I like to look at the moon wherever it is.

HP200LX

I have been using this handheld PC 'HP200LX' for almost ten years. It seems poor in its specs now; no color display, no pointing device, no camera, no audio interface, and only 2MB memory. But it just fits to my purpose. It runs MS-DOS operating system which I am very familiar with, and it has a very well-designed keyboard with which I can type more than 180 characters per minute. I am using it almost every day for scheduling or writing something. It is very useful for me to record my idea as text data anywhere and anytime. The only thing I am afraid is that this great machine is not produced yet and I can't get the other one if this one is broken. I hope it is reproduced or other superior machine is coming on.
