Ukulele

I've been playing the ukulele for years. And I play it almost every day, before going to bed or when I feel tired. As ukulele is a simple and light weight instrument, I can play it anywhere and anytime I like. If you have no experience of instruments you can play it within an hour. It's very easy and happy! Quite a few people think that ukulele is an instrument for accompanying vocal songs, it is not true. We can enjoy solo playing of any music with one ukulele. My specialty is "Yesterday" by Beatles.

Katsu Don

Tonight I had Katsu Don for my dinner. Katsu Don is one of the most popular Japanese menu. It is a fried pork bowl with rice. A few pieces of fried pork stewed with onion slices and scrambled egg are surved on bowl of rice. It tastes of basically soy sauce and a little bit sweet. Of course I like it very much, but it takes a long time for me to cook it myself. I bought this Katsu Don at Fujiya the Japanese food store in Vancouver.

View from the bed

I can see this view from the bed in my apartment. When I wake up in the morning I can see this view by just opening my eyes on the bed. I don't even need to rise from the bed. It is unbelievably pleasant. I can enjoy the view changes everytime. Sometimes a seagul comes to rest on my balcony. When I saw him for the first time, I was very happy. But recently I don't like him any more because he often cries loudly and prevents me from sleeping happy. The most wondering thing is that it doesn't smell of the sea while I'm living in such a close place to the sea. Perhaps the low temperatures and humidities erase the smell of the sea.

Highschool teacher Gon

Just now I received a phone call from Gon, who is my friend living in Seattle. He said he has become a highschool teacher in Japanese school in Seattle. He is going to teach mathematics two hours on Saturdays. We talked about highschool mathematics and I found that I've forgotten most of mathematics in highschool level. I was a little bit shocked but it is natural because it was almost twenty years ago when I was a highschool student.

Lazy afternoon

I met Atsushi and Yuichiro this afternoon. Although it is Friday today, we all have nothing to do. So we went to the beergarden in the Granvile Island and drank two pints of beer each. After that, we boarded on my hana hou and enjoyed sailing in English Bay. Both Atsushi and Yuichiro know nothing about boat so only I had to do everything to maneuver the boat. I was very tired much more than when I was sailing singlehanded.

Low low tide

This is the view of False Creak from my balcony. It is almost full moon and the tide is low low today. I have never seen such narrow False Creak. I don't think a large boat or a barge can pass this channel. The moon is far far away but its power is great. I wonder if we could use this power and change it into electric power.

Gas price

The gas price in Vancouver is almost always 99.9 cents per litter these days. There isn't any more space to show the higher price on the sign boards of gas stands. Last year I saw the price at less than 70.0 cents. Surely it is incredibly expensive now. But, it is still cheaper than in Japan. The price of gas per litter in Japan is about 110 yen which is almost 1 Canadian dollar and 30 cents!

Chinese fruit talt

This afternoon I went to Richimond which is a city full of Chinese people. And I bought Chinese fruit talts in a chinese shopping mall. I like this cake very much because it is not too sweet. Unfortunatelly most cakes for Canadian are too sweet and too large for me, but this cake is different. Anyway Richimod is quite different from other cities in Canada like this cake; it is almost a Chinese city.

Colorful Beatle

I found this Beatle on the street in Down Town. It looked happy under the blue sky. Unfortunately in Japan, we cannot see old Beatle like this less times than in Canada. There are a lot of reason considered; in Japan the car regulations are more strict, new cars are cheaper, people are used to scrap things and buy new ones. But when I saw this old Beatle, I felt the love of the owner to this pretty classic car and it made me happy. I hope this car goes on running for more years.
