This is a new traffic sign which I found today on a pedestrian crossing in Downtown. It might be a trial version but I think it would be very effective. Of course it is a commonsense in the present world to watch around carefully before crossing a traffic road, but we sometimes forget it and some of them who are especially unlucky are to be injured or killed by traffic accidents. Where were they watching just before being hit by a car? I guess considerable rate of them should have be watching their step thinking about other things, and if it is true, this sign could lead their attention to the traffic to prevent tragedy. Plus, especially in Vancouver, there are lots of foreign people who are not accustomed to the keeping right rules. I hope this sign to spread all around Vancouver.
Changing our lifestyle habit is very difficult. When I go to the US, sometimes I am astonished that cars are approaching from unexpected direction. The sign on the road will be very useful for those who come from foreign countries.
